Opening in 1930, Brisbane City Hall sits at the heart of the Queensland Capital and is a symbol of civic and community pride. It is a result of its enduring role both within its civic function and community accessibility that Brisbane City Hall is one of the city’s most popular and coveted locations for conferences, corporate and private functions, weddings and special events.

As you enter the magnificent King George Square foyer the grandness of the marble staircases and the vaulted ceiling sand mosaic tiled floor herald something special for you and your guests.  It is a sense of arrival like no other venue in Brisbane and sets the tone for extraordinary and memorable occasions, no matter how big or small.

Descrpition

The Main Auditorium is the largest single space in Brisbane City Hall and one of the most photographed and renowned parts of the building. Its circular design with fluted pilasters around the perimeter is based on the Pantheon of Rome.

The high ceiling, equipped with the latest lighting and audio-visual equipment, forms the background to the room’s focal point, a 23 metre high central lantern. The newly restored timber floor, large stage, semi-circular balcony and grand organ are surrounded by a decorative frieze by Australian artist, Daphne Mayo, featuring six medallions each containing a portrayal of a life sized classical nymph clashing cymbals or blowing a trumpet.

The Main Auditorium is an ideal function space for large-scale gala events, ceremonies, concerts and performances.

Brisbane Room, with its aesthetically pleasing architecture, high ceiling, and grand chandeliers, is a versatile function space.

It was officially opened as a public space in April 1980, when a time capsule was inserted into one of the decorated pillars. The time capsule will be re-opened on 11 April 2030.

King George Square is the ultimate location for outdoor events in the heart of Brisbane. Managed by Epicure, full catering and bar facilities are available for guests inside City Hall. King George Square offers a range of spaces suitable for corporate events, product launches, Civic ceremonies, festivals, concerts and exhibitions either directly on the square or on the covered deck overlooking City Hall. With over 3000sqm of useable space, King George Square can be transformed into a giant dinner party, barbeque or cocktail reception for corporate events. To ensure the event is weatherproof, elegant marquees and stall structures can be provided along with furniture and other event hire needs.

Brisbane City Hall’s Balmoral Suites include the following rooms: Balmoral, Oak Table, Windsor Room and Belmont Room, which can be hired individually or collectively. Originally the Lord Mayoral reception rooms, these venue spaces were renamed the Balmoral Suites in 1982. Featuring ornate plasterwork, the rooms provide an elegant and historic backdrop for functions.

The Balmoral Room is a popular venue for cocktail parties, wedding receptions and formal dinners, as well as business meetings, seminars, training sessions and presentations. The room has a balcony overlooking the northern light-well.

The Windsor Room sits within the Balmoral Suites along with the Balmoral and Oak Table Rooms. The room can be hired individually or with the other suite rooms.
