MAIN AUDITORIUM

The Main Auditorium is the largest single space in Brisbane City Hall and one of the most photographed and renowned parts of the building. Its circular design with fluted pilasters around the perimeter is based on the Pantheon of Rome.

The high ceiling, equipped with the latest lighting and audio-visual equipment, forms the background to the room’s focal point, a 23 metre high central lantern. The newly restored timber floor, large stage, semi-circular balcony and grand organ are surrounded by a decorative frieze by Australian artist, Daphne Mayo, featuring six medallions each containing a portrayal of a life sized classical nymph clashing cymbals or blowing a trumpet.

The Main Auditorium is an ideal function space for large-scale gala events, ceremonies, concerts and performances.

BRISBANE ROOM

Brisbane Room, with its aesthetically pleasing architecture, high ceiling, and grand chandeliers, is a versatile function space.

It was officially opened as a public space in April 1980, when a time capsule was inserted into one of the decorated pillars. The time capsule will be re-opened on 11 April 2030.

KING GEORGE SQUARE

King George Square is the ultimate location for outdoor events in the heart of Brisbane. Managed by Epicure, full catering and bar facilities are available for guests inside City Hall. King George Square offers a range of spaces suitable for corporate events, product launches, Civic ceremonies, festivals, concerts and exhibitions either directly on the square or on the covered deck overlooking City Hall. With over 3000sqm of useable space, King George Square can be transformed into a giant dinner party, barbeque or cocktail reception for corporate events. To ensure the event is weatherproof, elegant marquees and stall structures can be provided along with furniture and other event hire needs.

BALMORAL SUITES:
BALMORAL ROOM

Brisbane City Hall’s Balmoral Suites include the following rooms: Balmoral, Oak Table, Windsor Room and Belmont Room, which can be hired individually or collectively. Originally the Lord Mayoral reception rooms, these venue spaces were renamed the Balmoral Suites in 1982. Featuring ornate plasterwork, the rooms provide an elegant and historic backdrop for functions.

The Balmoral Room is a popular venue for cocktail parties, wedding receptions and formal dinners, as well as business meetings, seminars, training sessions and presentations. The room has a balcony overlooking the northern light-well.

BALMORAL SUITES:
WINDSOR ROOM

Brisbane City Hall’s Windsor Room is defined by its floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking King George Square. Situated on the first level, it has the same charm as the Lord Mayoral office, sharing the same architectural features.

The room is ideally suited to wedding ceremonies, seated events and cocktail parties, as well as business meetings, seminars, training sessions and workshops. The Windsor Room sits within the Balmoral Suites along with the Balmoral and Oak Table Rooms. The room can be hired individually or with the other suite rooms.

OAK TABLE ROOM

As its name suggests, Brisbane City Hall’s Oak Table Room is defined by its long heritage-listed oak table. Lighting and wireless technology make this an ideal room for small events and round table meetings.

The Oak Table Room is one of four rooms included in the Balmoral Suites. This room may be hired individually or in conjunction with the other rooms in the Suites.

ITHACA AUDITORIUM

The newly renovated Ithaca Auditorium is a large, pillar-less room that creates the ideal setting for medium-sized events such as concerts, recitals, theatrical performances, presentations, conferences, gala dinners and ceremonies. Key features of the auditorium include a high coffered ceiling, cool paint colour palette, polished wooden stage and piano. The auditorium adjoins the Ithaca Foyer and has extensive back of house spaces and facilities, including private and group dressing rooms.

ITHACA FOYER

Ithaca Foyer’s high ceilings and heritage windows allow natural light to enter this generously sized pre-function space. Situated outside the Ithaca Auditorium and Kedron Room, the foyer is accessible from the Ann Street foyer lifts. It is an ideal display space for events held in the Ithaca Auditorium and for pre-function drinks for guests attending functions in the Kedron Room.

TOOWONG ROOM

With arch windows capturing the flow of ample natural light, the spacious Toowong Room is located on ground level, close to the Main Auditorium. Ideally suitable for pre and post-event gatherings for Main Auditorium events, the function room may be used for seated banquets, presentations, seminars, training sessions and workshops. Available for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

HAMILTON LOUNGE

The Hamilton Lounge is the perfect room for cocktail-style occasions. Beautiful rich wooden floorboards, gold lights attached to the pillars and deep rouge lounge furniture combine to create an elegant-yet-modern look. A long marble kitchen bench with cooking facilities provides opportunities for cooking and service within the room, or simply an added point of interest.

SISTER CITIES ROOM

Situated adjacent to a lobby adjoining the Kedron Room, this newly created venue space is located on the second floor of Brisbane City Hall. It is ideally suited to hosting small private functions up to 200 people, such as weddings and cocktail parties, as well as business meetings. The room has modern audio visual equipment, with advanced digital sound and lighting systems.

SANDGATE ROOM

With entry from the Ann Street foyer, the Sandgate Room features beautiful arch windows and offers direct access to the northern light-well courtyard.

The Sandgate Room is ideally suited to pre-dinner functions for Main Auditorium events, but can also be used for seated banquets, as well as presentations, seminars, training sessions and workshops.
