Mothers Day Luncheon charity raiser

The Lord Mayoral Mothers Day Luncheon was held at the Adelaide Town Hall on May 6th, enticing 280 guests to enjoy Epicure’s Heidi Gruyere tart with toasted walnuts, witlof and snow pea salad dressed in Pendleton Estate Chardonnay vinegar, char-grilled chicken breast with Willunga olive studded mash and caponata salad followed by house made flourless chocolate cake with praline garnished with special guest Maggie Beer’s Seville vino cotto. Special guests included the Right Honourable The Lord Mayor Michael Harbison and Councillor Wong, with Lucy Cornes, Sarah Ricciuto and Rosanna Mangiarelli “on the couch” , Brenton Whittle as MC and a performance by Diane Dixon with proceeds benefiting the Women’s and Children’s Hospital Foundation – making the difference!

Epicure opens the Biodiversity Gallery

The South Australian Museum’s new Biodiversity Gallery captures the unique story of the State’s diverse wildlife from the hot and dry north, to the deep oceans of the south, utilising traditional taxidermy, state-of-the-art synthetic modelling and modern electronic displays. This major new Gallery was officially opened by the Premier, Mike Rann, with a special message delivered from Sir David Attenborough, on February 11th. Over 350 special guests were afforded a preview of this major new Museum exhibition space while enjoying Epicure hospitality including tartlets of beetroot and orange confit with Woodside goat’s curd and house made sausage rolls of duck, five spice and shiitake mushrooms complimented by B3 wines. The SA Biodiversity Gallery is now open daily with free entry.

Australia Day with the Prime Minister

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and 400 invited guests celebrated Australia Day 2010 in style at the Adelaide Town Hall on January 20th. Guests grazed on Epicure’s take on Australia Day - little Aussie beef and Burgundy pies with green tomato relish, rillettes of Adelaide Plains rabbit on crostini with baby cornichons and mini beef burgers with crisp pancetta, aged cheddar, wild rocket and tomato chutney, fries on the side followed by passionfruit tartlets topped with meringue while sampling fine South Australian wines. Meanwhile, guests including Premier Mike Rann and Lord Mayor Michael Harbison were entertained by Indigenous performer Bella Jedrzejczak

Shaken, not stirred in the Mortlock

Volvo Trucks Australia really know how to throw a Dinner party, taking the State Library’s inherent grandeur to another level of luxury with October’s 007 Casino Royale theme. The Mortlock Chamber’s treasure-filled bays hid blackjack tables and roulette wheels behind lush velvet draping, only revealed to guests after a sumptuous dinner including twice cooked High Country grain fed pork belly on parsnip puree with Barossa black pudding and roasted sweet onions and roasted Northern Territory barramundi fillet with potato, Barossa Valley chorizo and Kinkawooka mussel salad, saffron aioli was served and savoured. Lady Luck was on everyone’s side, as high stakes were played, won and lost from the welcome safety of Volvo currency funny money.


The Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize

Our beautiful SA Museum once again played gracious host for the 7th Annual Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize presentation evening, where Matilda Mitchell’s ‘Fish’ was chosen as overall winner from a record 837 entries. In an ironic mix of creation and evolution, guests celebrated the 200th Birthday of Charles Darwin against a backdrop of inspired canvas and sculptural works depicting our natural world.

As a proud sponsor of this prestigious event, the Epicure team relished the chance to work in an extra-creative sphere. Guests were treated to Barossa pancetta arancini, Adelaide Plains rabbit rillettes, local Snapper & pearl barley broth and the crowd favourite – delicate eggshells filled parmesan truffle custard.

MEA Conference Welcome

Sunday 5th April saw Epicure and the Adelaide Town Hall host the MEA 2009 Conference Welcome Reception within our civic and cultural heart, the grand Auditorium. What an opportunity to showcase not just our beautiful venue and hospitality, but also our state’s incredible fresh produce! 500 Meetings and Events Industry delegates from around Australia were treated to a selection of South Australia’s finest fare including; Port Lincoln tuna tartare with avocado and lime and little Adelaide Hills rhubarb and apple crumble with double cream.

Tour Down Under's dinner with Lance Armstrong

A select few of Adelaide’s A-list dined with 7 times Tour de France cycling champion and cancer survivor, Lance Armstrong in the Banqueting Room of the Adelaide Town Hall on the evening of Friday January 16. Undoubtedly Tour Down Under 2009’s major drawcard, Lance Armstrong dined alongside guests including Premier Mike Rann and wife Sasha Carruozzo, with proceeds from the $2,500 ticket event supporting The Cancer Council of SA. Epicure worked closely with Events SA and Penfolds Wines to develop a 4 course tasting menu of our state’s finest produce including poached Spencer Gulf prawn and fennel panna cotta with chervil and a citrus foam, Barossa Shiraz braised lamb shoulder wrapped in carème puff pastry on crushed peas and flourless Haighs chocolate torte with espresso syrup.

Bang and Olufsen's new Adelaide store opening, August 2008

The stunning new Bang and Olufsen Grenfell Street showroom was officially opened on August 28. As featured in The Adelaide Magazine, 150 guests celebrated the deluxe Danish brand's second Adelaide store, enjoying Epicure Catering’s quirky cubed dessert cocktail menu which played upon the event theme “Think Inside the Box”. Guests enjoyed little rainbow coloured coconut jelly-cakes, lemon sherbert marshmallows, decadent Haighs dark chocolate brownies and glass cubes filled with Calvados custard with poached Adelaide Hills Rhubarb, as well as plunger fair-trade coffee and some very fine wines.

Adelaide Festival Opening Night Successes!
State Library SA & SA Museum, February 2008

Epicure, resident event caterer at the State Library of South Australia, ensured opening night guests were well catered for on Friday February 29th. The grand official opening of the Festival, Northern Lights was launched on Friday illuminating the architectural icons on one of the most cultural boulevards in the world including the Institute Building of the State Library. Inside the Circulating Library, 90 VIP guests enjoyed what Alan Smith, Director of the State Library declared “party of the year”, before the building facades were transformed with projection of The Electric Canvas.

Meanwhile, the Adelaide Festival’s Living Books – a library where the books are human beings, was opened in the Mortlock Chamber with 200 guests enjoying Epicure’s signature canapes.

Epicure also catered for the official opening of the magnificent “ngurrara -The Great Sandy Dessert Canvas” at the South Australian Museum on Wednesday February 27th.
