After
a sensational Melbourne summer, it’s time to welcome Autumn in
all its glory. Soon you will begin to see amber leaves
decorating our gardens and bare trees will be a striking
contrast against clear blue skies.
Along
with cooler weather is the arrival of the major events season
with a little something for everyone to enjoy. The Melbourne
International Comedy Festival, Melbourne Food and Wine
Festival, the 2010 FORMULA 1™ Australian Grand Prix, Melbourne
International Flower and Garden Show, and the much anticipated
2010 AFL premiership season.
For all our foodie
friends, Autumn is the season for beautiful apples, mandarins,
pears, figs, grapes and pomegranates together with avocado,
beans, eggplant, leeks, peas, tomatoes, zucchini and sweet
potato. These are just a few of the season’s
highlights!

The
Art of Romance New Years Eve 2010 was an
unforgettable evening for two Australian Ballet principal
dancers who celebrated their wedding in the ANZ Pavilion at
the Arts Centre. The room was transformed into a magical
setting with mirrored table tops reflecting sparkling ‘stars’
on the Pavilion dome ceiling from hundreds of candles.
Guests enjoyed a beautiful degustation menu with
matching wines and danced the night away with a Spanish band.
As the clock struck midnight, the party continued on the
balcony as the Melbourne skies burst into colour with
fireworks to celebrate the new year. .........................................................................

Blackberry ‘Hidden Secrets’ at
ACCA
The Epicure
Catering Special Events team recently worked with Sydney
production company George P Johnson on a “Hidden Secrets”
Blackberry
launch in the ultra modern Australian Centre for Contemporary
Art. The event space was transformed with graffiti projected
onto walls to provide a colourful urban streetscape. Guests
were given a challenge to compete for the latest Blackberry by
‘tagging’ their own designs with a Jedi style light sabre. As
“Hidden Secrets” were revealed throughout the night,
the food and drinks flowed and the entertainment turned
to an action packed break dance performance that inspired
guests to bust a few of their own moves!

One Starry Night
- An Evening with Julio
Iglesias
Julio Iglesias performs
at the Hamer Hall on the 29th March as part of his 2009/2010
World Tour, a tour full of emotion.
He has sold more than 300
million albums in 14 languages, released 77 albums and has
been the recipient of more than 2600 Platinum and Gold records
in his illustrious career and is one of the world’s most
popular recording artists. After more than four
decades this impeccable artist continues to delight audiences
all over the world. He crafts each song note by note, studies
each word until he reaches the effect he wants.
No one
puts such passion, such feeling into music that with each
breath, the audience trembles. It is no wonder that
every thirty seconds one of his songs is played on a radio
station somewhere in the world. For tickets click

Meet one of Melbourne’s most
influential people
Congratulations to Paul
Van Kalken who was voted as one of Melbourne’s most
influential people in a poll conducted by The Age Magazine in
January 2010. For eight years, Paul has been welcoming
visitors to the Melbourne Town Hall. He’s the ‘go-to’ doorman
for all high profile events and extends his warm hospitality
to all who grace the famous red carpet of the Melbourne Town
Hall entrance. Paul lives and breaths his position and hopes
to continue his role for many years to come. “I’ve been here
so long I’ve become the face of the Melbourne Town Hall… and
it’s a real honour”, says Paul.
